From anz.theoildrum.com, "How Technology Increases Oil Production":

Quote
The answer to this question will help us reassess claims that advances in oil field technology will postpone the peak in global oil production. The question itself arises from a case study of Enhanced Oil Recovery in the Handil Oil Field in Indonesia.

    More:

This just goes to show that in terms of traditional oil fields - the kind that supply the majority of the world's oil supply - technology will not save fields from irreversible decline. New technologies and techniques might double contemporary production, but in the historical perspective it is still a minor increase compared to overall peak output.

    Thoughts?

Get it out of the ground as fast as possible

refine it and use it as fast as possible and in every now conceivable way  (plus invent new ways for use)

There aint much (we're told)so squander it in ways not yet invented of discovered

eg a SUV for man, woman and child  on the planet

    And be done with it

    Sheesh

    I was, top a degree

There are many things wrong (ineffective) with how the world's resources are being used and  waste ranks high amongst them

In case none here have noticed  the world operationg systems have brought about constant turmoil for the majore of the world's peoples
The sarcasm is borne of an utter disgust, continuious war manipulation of thought, fiat money
disgusting lack of voter participation in politics, law(the rules of the game), solutions to social ills
     and the list goes on

I suppoert the idea of electroic salons

    snip>>>>

Throughout this guide the word salon is used to describe a wide range of ways groups can interact.

Traditional salons like those that seeded the French Revolution tend to emphasize spirited group discussion.
Council, derived mainly from Native American traditions, emphasizes 'devout listening' and unpremeditated speaking.
Study circles tend to involve reading and focused group discussion.
